Capital Pride has chosen to move the Capital Pride Kickoff/Out on Assignment event scheduled for Wednesday, June 1st.  It will now be at the Chaselton Ballroom, 1701 16th ST NW.  The Chaselton Ballroom

Doors open at 6:15 and the panel discussion will start at 6:45.

The DC Chapter of the National Lesbian & Gay Journalists Association is proud to co-sponsor, “Out on Assignment,” part of the Capital Pride Kickoff. Join us Wednesday, June 1st at the National Press Club, 7 P.M. to 9 P.M.  1529 14th ST NW, 13th Floor.

Former HRC President Elizabeth Birch will deliver opening remarks.  Then hear from a panel of journalists about the state of LGBT media.

“Out on Assignment” June 1st at the National Press Club

Capital Pride 2011 will kick off with a panel discussion and celebration at The National Press Club.

The event will commence at 7 p.m. with “Out on Assignment: How LGBT Journalists Influence the Media Landscape,” a panel discussion hosted by the National Lesbian & Gay Journalists Association. LGBT journalists from a variety of media outlets will make remarks and answer questions from the audience. Following the panel discussion, members of the community will be invited to celebrate the kick-off of Capital Pride at a networking reception hosted by The National Press Club. A cash bar will be available.

LGBT journalists and communicators, members of the Press Club and NLGJA, Capital Pride partners and community supporters are all welcome to join this engaging discussion and to celebrate Capital Pride.

“Networking Night” Thursday, March 31st

Join the DC Chapter of the National Lesbian & Gay Journalists Association for Networking Night (It’s like happy hour, but with a fancier name).

When:  Thursday, March 31st, 6:30 PM

What: Like spring, NLGJA-DC is poking its head out of the ground after a long winter (well, not that bad of a winter). Join us for an evening of networking and perhaps, even a beer. Meet fellow journalists, bloggers, pr folks and others in related fields. Bring your business cards and make new contacts. Bring yourself and just have a good time on Nellie’s roof top deck.

The NLGJA Excellence in Journalism awards have been recognizing outstanding LGBT journalism since 1993.  Categories range from HIV/AIDS Coverage to Multimedia Journalism to Student Journalism.
